The SVPHC Appropriations Committee will review and score each application individually.  Priority will be given to projects that align with the Club’s mission to enhance and improve our community, especially in NE Ringgold and NW Decatur Counties.  Individual awards generally range from $500 to $2,000.

Past Recipients

The SVPHC has already supported a variety of charitable and environmental causes at Sun Valley Lake and the surrounding communities; including assisting the Union Township Fire Department with an upgrade of their radio communication system and by purchasing a thermal imager to detect heat signatures during a fire rescue.  The Club has contributed to the Mt Ayr Fire Department by purchasing and upgrading the water emergency team’s ice rescue equipment and by purchasing a positive pressure fan which allows firefighters to ventilate a burning structure quickly.

We have been the major benefactor of the Ellston Public Library and have also contributed to numerous projects at the Mt Ayr Schools; including helping the Industrial Tech Department purchase equipment and the Ag Department finish an FFA building project.  The Club has assisted teachers in purchasing age appropriate books from elementary through middle school, and helped the school nurse in providing hygiene supplies to students.

The SVPHC has helped both the Grand River American Legion and the Ellston American Legion with projects, along with both the Kellerton and Ellston Community Centers.

The Sun Valley Parrot Head Club is proud to be involved with so many wonderful and creative projects designed to promote civic, community and environmental betterment.

Since the Club’s inception in 2011, more than $110,00 has been donated to our community!
